About Amber
I am Amber Farnan, a longstanding resident of Mills County, with roots deeply embedded in our community. Having spent the majority of my life here, I proudly call Glenwood my hometown. My educational journey began at Glenwood Community Schools. I have since earned a bachelor’s degree, a city clerk certification and am working on a financial officer certification.
With nearly 14 years of dedicated service in the public sector, I bring a wealth of experience to the table. Currently, I serve as the City Administrator and Finance Director for the City of Glenwood, where I have played a pivotal role in managing municipal affairs. Prior to this, I honed my skills as a dispatcher for Mills County 911 and held various positions within Glenwood Community Schools.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am deeply engaged in community affairs. I am privileged to be a member of several boards in Mills County, including the Mills County Economic Development Foundation, the YMCA Board, the GRC Task Force, and serve on the advisory board for RAGBRAI.
On a personal note, my husband, Justin, and I recently celebrated a decade of marriage. Justin serves as the School Resource Officer with the Mills County Sheriff's Office, contributing to the safety and well-being of our community. Together, we cherish the joy of parenthood, raising two wonderful daughters who bring boundless energy and laughter into our lives. Our family is completed by our beloved dog, Benny.
In our leisure time, we relish the opportunity to connect with nature through camping adventures, create cherished memories with family and friends, and actively participate in community activities, including our involvement with the American Legion.
I am profoundly committed to the betterment of Mills County and am honored to offer myself as a candidate for the role of County Auditor. With a steadfast dedication to service and a deep-rooted passion for our community, I am eager to contribute to the continued growth and prosperity of Mills County.
Thank you for considering my candidacy.
